BORDERS WE CROSS, 2024

mixed media on canvas, Augmented Reality filter

Growing up in exile as a second-generation Tibetan, I often wondered why we long for a country we have never stepped foot into. Borders We Cross is an imagination that transcends boundaries between my father’s homeland and the familiar Singaporean landscape that I grew up with. The AR filter bridges the distinction between these two spaces and it is a reflection that cultural identity is not fixed, but rather fluid and adaptable. This is a homage to navigating our multiple identities and histories, without being confined by the past.
